One of the few working schooners born and raised in Maine, the Schooner Timberwind began her life as the Portland Pilot out of Portland, ME. Launched in 1931, she protected the waters of Casco Bay during WWII, acted as a pilot vessel for many decades, and was finally purchased by Captain William Alexander in 1969. He then converted the vessel into a windjammer in the Maine fleet. After 40 years of hosting passengers for 3, 4, and 6-day cruises, the TImberwind has a new life offering day sails out of Belfast, ME. Check out our Timberwind History for more of her life at sea!
